PMGA Two Man - Chapman
A full field of 54 players – 27 two-man teams – took to the course for the first “summer rules” tournament of the season. Fortunately, the skies were dry and the ball was rolling throughout Sunday. A challenging course setup added to the excitement.
Two Man Chapman is similar to the previous Two Man – No Scotch format. Each player tees off, then each player plays his partner’s ball for the second shot. From there the best ball is chosen and an alternate shot format is used until the ball is holed.
The scores were tight throughout the day. Those utilizing the new live scoring system saw a lot of movement from hole to hole. In the end, it was Bob Smrecansky and Darrell Clayton atop the Gross division with a score of 3 over par. In the Net division, Jeff Menold and Scot Studebaker smoked the field with three stoke victory at 5 under par.
Even though your team may not have cashed – there are always plenty of reasons to play in the PMGA tournaments. Ceri Eames made lots of friends on Sunday with a picture-perfect Hole In One on the difficult par 3 third hole. A baby draw with a six iron and the entire field was drinking on Ceri.
The top three positions in the Plateau Cup standing remain the same with Reischman, Escover and Horton all earning more points. Below that, there are up and down arrows all over the board. Eighty-four PMGA members have participated in at least one tournament so far this year. As the weather heats up and the course starts to quicken – lets continue with full fields for the rest of the year!
