Two-Man Shamble

A new tournament making its debut on the Plateau Men’s Golf Association calendar.  The Shamble is a widely played format, but not seen at the Plateau Club before.  The weather was more fitting the Wet Weather Classic, but an intrepid field of 36 golfers on 18 teams took to the course on Saturday morning

The format was the standard Shamble – each golfer tees off.  The preferred drive is chosen and then each player plays his ball from there until holed.  The better ball score is then recorded for that hole.  A minimum of three drives per nine per person must be used.  Blue tees were used and as the course is still a bit damp, winter rules were in place.

Unfortunately, no pictures were recorded of this event so you’ll just have to take our word for it.

Darrell Clayton and Fred Glastetter came through with the Gross Division victory with a tidy 69, three under par.  This is beginning to be a trend for Darrell.

Jeff Menold, playing in his first tournament this year, and Rick Valdez took the Net Division with a 9 under 63.

The Plateau Cup standing have been updated and posted.  Mike Boden’s time at the top did not last long as Darrell Clayton now takes the number one position.  Bob Thomas hangs in there in position 2.  Rick Valdez moves up to number three.  The next tournament is a bit different with the PMGA Putting Contest on Saturday, May 14th.  Leave the rest of your bag in the car, bring your putter and your best ball.  This will be a single division event.
