A Tradition Unlike Any Other

This is the tournament that had trouble getting going.  Originally scheduled for April 10th, participants were greeted Saturday morning with a fresh coating of snow across The Plateau Club’s fairways.   Quick rescheduling moved the tournament to the next day.  Sunday, as well, began with challenges as a frost delay pushed the first tee time until 10:30.  Finally, 31 golfers were treated to a sunny and relatively warm afternoon.

The format was individual play with straight stroke play.  Blue tees were used with winter rules still in play.  This was the first tournament to use the club’s new live scoring system.  Once the live leaderboard got going, there were brief pauses at each tee box to check the competitor’s position in the tournament.  It is easy to see that this system will be a big hit going forward.

Congratulations to our two new winners of the year – Mike Epplin in the Gross and Jay Horton in the Net competition.  Dave Reischman, Norm Escover, and Bob Smrecansky continued their good play, winning money and valuable Plateau Cup points.  Special shout out to new member, Damon Buono, playing in his first PMGA Tournament, shooting an 81 for third in the Gross competition.  Look out once he learns the course.

It is tight at the top of the Plateau Cup standings with leader, Dave Reischman holding a slim, one point lead over Norm Escover.
