Two-Man No Scotch
This unique format was originally scheduled for March 26th. Schedule delays pushed the spring greens aeration and sanding until March 24th and 25th and the greens were virtually unplayable for Saturday. One week later, 40 golfers assembled under improving skies. Those who arrived early were greeted with a steady drizzle, but the umbrellas were down before the first tee shot.
The format for the tournament is a bit different. Both players teed off from the blue tees. The players then switched balls for the second shot. Following the second shot, each team picks the preferred ball and the format turns to a scramble until the ball is holed. Typically, this format leads to low scores and lots of birdies.
A total purse of $500.00 was available with #1 Gross and #1-5 Net paying off.
Several teams finished their 18 on the far reaches of the front 9. By that time, many of the participants were enjoying a post round beverage in the bar.
Mike Boden and Darrell Clayton were your gross division winners with a superb 65, seven under par!
The net division winners knew they had it won and here are Tom Whiteman and John Marrow enjoying a victory beverage. They had a total net score of 61, eleven under par.
The Plateau Cup standing have been updated and posted. Things at the top are really getting tight. Bob Thomas continues to lead after four events. Gary Grembowski is now only a single point behind with Darrel Clayton another point back. The next tournament is only a few days away on Saturday, April 9th with the Masters. This is an individual, stroke play event.
